Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
Marriage and parenting can be deeply fulfilling, but they also come with unique challenges. I understand the loneliness of feeling emotionally disconnected from a spouse and the guilt and frustration that can arise from feeling like a parenting failure. These experiences have shaped my perspective and deepened my empathy for those navigating similar struggles.
I’ve been married to my husband for several decades, and together we’ve faced significant life transitions. One of our greatest challenges has been navigating life with a chronic illness. My own faith was profoundly tested in my 20s when I received a potentially life-altering medical diagnosis. Over time, I’ve come to use a wheelchair, a journey that has allowed me to connect on a meaningful level with others facing medical diagnoses and chronic conditions.
In my counseling, I focus on your strengths while helping you apply biblical truths to your circumstances. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported, empowering you to transform feelings of loneliness and dissatisfaction into hope, peace, and contentment.
I utilize a combination of modalities, including Relational Life Therapy, experiential therapy, and the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy. My experience spans working with couples, families, and individuals addressing challenges such as relational conflict, difficulty communicating, anxiety, depression, substance use, stress and relationship issues related to one partner experiencing a medical crisis or condition, and grief and loss. I am guided in my work by the words in Galatians 6:2: “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
I hold a Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, where I completed my dissertation on the prevention and treatment of pastoral burnout in June 2023. I also earned a Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy with an emphasis in Medical Family Therapy from Fuller, following a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Family and Human Development from Arizona State University.
Before stepping into the counseling profession, I spent a number of years as a homeschooling mom and had a career in accounting for nonprofits. These experiences, coupled with my faith, have solidified my calling to ministry and counseling. I am honored to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families on their journey toward healing, growth, and restored connection.
